The Williams F1 team lived one of their longest nightmares in the 2019 Formula One season. To avoid a feeling of deja vu, the Williams team made two new recruitments to the technical department
The newcomers are, David Worner and Jonathan Carter as chief designer and deputy chief designer respectively. Both Worner and Carter are highly experienced personnel and their contribution to Williams F1 will be vital.
Who are the Williams F1 newcomers?

Worner worked with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing since its debut. He was around in Milton Keynes with Red Bull’s predecessor, Jaguar. Worner began his F1 career in 2003 with the British team and Red Bull chose to retain him when they took over.
Meanwhile, he will be working alongside Renault employee, Jonathan Carter. Carter’s Formula One resume includes the likes of working with Reynard and Arrows, before joining McLaren in 2002.

The Williams F1 team will be integrating the duo in their new roles “in the near future”. In other words, Worner and Carter will not be Williams employees immediately. Speaking about the new employees, deputy team principal Claire Williams expressed her delight in strengthening the design team.
She said, “Dave and Jonathan bring enormous experience, knowledge and skills to the Williams team, and we are delighted that they are joining us in the near future,”.

This truly is crunch time for Williams F1 in 2020. The Grove-based team need to start the year on the right note. 12 months ago, they missed out on crucial time in Barcelona. Owing to massive delays in finishing the FW42, they missed multiple testing days. So they will be eager to not have a repeat in the 2020 season.
This year, George Russell returns, but he has a new teammate in the form of Nicholas Latifi. The Canadian driver replaces Robert Kubica, who heads to Alfa Romeo as the reserve and development driver.
