Recently, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff spoke about bringing Nico Hulkenberg to the team as a reserve driver. The Silver Arrows launched their 2021 challenger yesterday, and at the event, Wolff said he could see the German behind the wheel of the Mercedes.

The German has been out of a drive since leaving Renault in 2019. However, Hulkenberg did make an appearance on the grid last year, He did step in for Lance Stroll and Checo Perez when they contracted Covid-19

The Silver Arrows already have a talented driver line-up with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas piloting the W12 on the track. But having Hulkenberg as their reserve driver is certainly a spring in Mercedes steps as they take to the grid in 2021

The reigning champions Mercedes took their seventh constructor’s title last year. The Brackley-based team has ensured that their star driver, Lewis Hamilton, will be behind the wheel next year. The Knight himself is looking to seat a record by winning his eighth championship.

However, it should be noted both their drivers, Hamilton and Bottas have just one year left on their contract. That is a problem for another day, but now the team is laser-focused on making sure that they perform their best for the upcoming season.
