Lewis Hamilton Ploughs Money Into $4.65 Billion NFL Franchise Housing Champion Russell Wilson

It will be tough to imagine F1 without one of its finest, as a day will come when Lewis Hamilton will retire. Many also ponder upon life after F1 for the Briton. With an inclination toward fashion, music, and art, the seven-time world champion has a lot of avenues. However, hardly anyone could’ve foreseen Hamilton’s latest venture.

The Briton shocked the world with the announcement of his latest venture into a new sports industry, specifically, the NFL.

NFL’s Denver Broncos is now owned by The Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group. And the seven-time world champion is also a part of the incoming ownership group.

Hamilton, No. 17 on Forbes’ list of the highest-earning athletes for 2022 at $65 million, announced his involvement via Instagram.

“Excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the @broncos story. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to impact the sport and work with a world class team. I’m ready to get started and serve as an example of the value of more diverse leadership across all sports,” he wrote

Also announcing his involvement, Rob Walton, on behalf of the Walton-Penner family group, issued a statement.

The statement read, We’re delighted to welcome Seven-Time Formula One World Champion Sir LewisHamilton to our ownership group. He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team.


Mellody Hobson also celebrated the announcement on her Instagram. Hobson is president and c0-CEO of Ariel Investments.

However, this is not the first attempt by the Briton to become a team owner.

Sir Hamilton attempted to capitalize on an opportunity earlier in the year to become a team owner. Hamilton, along with Tennis star Serena Williams, attempted to become a part owner of Chelsea Football Club.

The two serial winners pledged millions of pounds in the bid for the Chelsea FC takeover, spearheaded by Sir Martin Broughton. The bid for the London club was expected in the least from Hamilton as he himself, is an Arsenal fan.

The bid never materialized, as Hamilton’s destiny of becoming a team owner was meant for a different continent all together.
