Lewis Hamilton is arguably one of the greatest athletes ever, let alone the greatest F1 driver. However, he was denied access during the Wimbledon Men’s singles final back in 2015. The event held between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer was a much anticipated one, but unfortunately, Hamilton could not watch it from the Wimbledon Centre Court Royal Box.

He could not attend the match as a result of not following the strict dress code. He arrived at the All England Lawn and Tennis Croquet Club in a floral shirt and a hat. Men are required to wear a jacket and tie inside the Royal box. The Briton, however, was certainly not aware of this.

According to BBC, a spokesperson said, “Due to a misunderstanding over dress code, he is disappointed to have missed the final. If he [Hamilton] was not adequately dressed you could infer that he would not have been let in, but we do not comment on our guests. If he came without a jacket, tie or shoes he would have had two choices – not staying or going to get some extra stuff.”

Well, this would have disappointed Hamilton since he was eagerly waiting for the finals. He was active on Instagram, opening up about the game, and was delighted with the invite to the Royal Box. In the final, Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in just four sets to take home the grand trophy.

It is certainly interesting to see Hamilton take inspiration from tennis. He will need this form of inspiration, as he has endured a disappointing start to the 2022 season.
