Formula One driver Romain Grosjean is notorious for being very vocal on the radio to complain about anything and everything. When not whining about his teammate or other drivers, his target is his own team and his car. However, during the US Grand Prix, it was clear that the team had had enough of the moaning.

So, they rightfully told him to ‘shut up’, though it wasn’t much help as the Frenchman was on a roll. Finally, Romain Grosjean declared that he was going to retire from the race, only to be told that there was one lap remaining. The now-deflated driver then sheepishly said that he would run until the chequered flag.

This is not the first time Grosjean has been outspoken, and the same goes for his teammate Kevin Magnussen. At the Russian Grand Prix, Magnussen was highly critical of the FIA stewards, and team principal Guenther Steiner echoed his sentiments. Naturally, the stewards didn’t too kindly to the criticism and threatened to ban Steiner for a race.

During that race, he said, “If it wasn’t for a stupid, idiotic steward, we would be eighth,” he told Magnussen, who replied: “Yeah, what a load of shit.”

Admittedly, the 2019 season has been a poor one for the Haas F1 team, with their off-track drama with Rich Energy. However it was further compounded with Grosjean and Magnussen often getting in each other’s way.

Speaking to Motorsport.com, Steiner confessed that he figured that the relationship between Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen was unsalvageable. He said: “Absolutely, yeah. After Silverstone I was to a point where I could not see this working anymore, because we were struggling with the car, then we were struggling with the drivers.”

Steiner suspected that pressure from outside forced Grosjean and Magnussen to stop thinking about Haas’ interests and race only for themselves.
