Emma Raducanu Reveals Her Favorite F1 Driver Amidst Likes of Ricciardo & Hamilton

18-year-old British tennis player Emma Raducanu became the first qualifier in history to reach the US Open final. She has received praise from all corners of the world, including from 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. The young Brit surprised everyone when she stated that her favorite F1 driver is Daniel Ricciardo and not Hamilton.

Raducanu mentioned she is a big F1 fan and tries to follow as many races as possible. She also pointed out some similarities between Formula One and tennis, which she finds relatable.

As reported by Express.Co.UK, the teen sensation stated that she visited the British Grand Prix this year. She also mentioned she has recently started to watch the sport on a weekly basis.

“When I have time, I love to watch Formula One and I’ve started to follow it week-by-week. I watched the British Grand Prix and Daniel Ricciardo is my favorite driver!” said Raducanu.

When asked why she likes the McLaren driver, she replied,

” Off the track, it seems like there’s so much banter with him, and he’s super laid back and chilled, and I think once he gets in the car he’s also super fiercely competitive.”

US Open finalist stated the similarities between F1 and tennis

Emma Raducanu stated that there are some similarities between Formula One and Tennis. But she also recognized there are some major differences as well. She also mentioned that tennis players can learn from F1 drivers as well.

” As tennis players, we can learn a lot from their reactions–you have to see everything so fast because the speeds that they’re going at are unbelievable. Those reactions and instincts can relate a lot to tennis,” said Raducanu.

But she mentioned that the margin for error is very different in F1 as compared to F1.

“The intensity of the focus is also similar and transferrable, but tennis is a lot more luxurious. If you make a mistake, it’s not the end of the world, but in F1, if you make a mistake, you’re in the wall.” said the British player.
