The Scuderia Ferrari team had everything going right for them all weekend. From dominating all three practice sessions to Charles LeClerc scoring his maiden pole position, it looked like Ferrari were invincible this weekend.

However, a silly error from Sebastian Vettel while chasing Lewis Hamilton, cost him a guaranteed podium. Then, yet more disaster struck as LeClerc’s Ferrari began to dramatically slow down. The young Monegasque driver was then caught and passed by both Mercedes cars and was then reeled in by Max Verstappen.

But then it seemed that the powers that be, took pity on him and the resulting Safety Car, allowed him to keep 3rd.

Following the race, team principal Mattia Binotto personally came on the radio to offer words of encouragement to the two gutted Ferrari drivers.

Speaking to Vettel, he said, “Hi Seb, Mattia speaking. Next race will be the best one. Don’t worry! You did your best. You did a fantastic race. These things may happen.”
