‘Ferrari Showcased Weakness With Silverstone Celebration’- Lewis Hamilton

Last race in Silverstone gave birth to a lot of controversies. Lewis Hamilton accused Ferrari team of interesting tactics, thus indirectly accusing Kimi Raikkonen of intentionally crashing into him. Not just Hamilton, Toto Wolff and James Alisson also brought controversies upon themselves with the statements they passed post the race for Ferrari.

But what seemed to have drawn fresh controversies from Lewis Hamilton is how Vettel and Ferrari celebrated post race. This is how Vettel celebrated his victory in Silverstone after beating Lewis Hamilton at this home race:

“We had a super car, a great strategy and we did it at their home [race]. Now we take the English flag and hang it in Maranello. Yes!”

When asked what it will mean if he takes the German Grand Prix victory from Sebastian Vettel, just as the German driver did it in Silverstone, this is what Hamilton had to say:

“I see that as a weakness rather than a whole need to even say anything [in return if we win in Germany]. For me it’s something that we can work with, it doesn’t affect me what so ever. Good for him.

“We will keep our heads down, keep ourselves quiet and focus on trying to do a better job across the board.

“That’s our approach right now. I hope when we do the job this weekend, it won’t be focused on whether we did it on their home ground or anything like that. I don’t think that’s going to be necessary. We’re just trying to do a better job.”

At the backdrop of the German Grand Prix, Mercedes have confirmed both of their drivers, earlier confirming Lewis Hamilton who will stay with the team at least till 2020 and then Valtteri Bottas, who much like last year, will sign a single year contract. Mercedes will be hoping its drivers have a certain extra bit of motivation this weekend now that their futures are secured.
