Few Experts Unconvinced about Mick Schumacher

Mick Schumacher is said to be the next big sensation to hit Formula One. Following the Bahrain GP 2019, he took part in a 2-day test session, spending the opening day with the Ferrari.

He ended the rain-interrupted session in 2nd, nearly half a second behind Max Verstappen. Speaking about Mick Schumacher and his performance and Charles LeClerc’s pole, manager, Nicolas Todt mused, “They’re not bad, are they?”.

While conversing with Dutch newspaper, Algemeen Dagblad, he confessed, “There are the ones who make an immediate impression and those who take a little longer.”

“He needs a little longer than Max Verstappen, who has been the uncrowned world champion in terms of driving for the past four years except in the results.

“The car is very important, and that Schumacher is already driving a Ferrari helps,”

Meanwhile, Mol admitted, “I have yet to think ‘Wow’. I see a young man who still has a way to go,”.

However, he did not deny the fact that Mick Schumacher had plenty of talent. Both personalities felt that Mick Schumacher lacked that certain edge that the likes of Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen possessed.

He continued, “Ferrari would not pick him up just because of his surname, even it undoubtedly helps. The name alone won’t get it done.”

“But to date, I have found him to be average in all of the previous classes. It’s up to him to prove me wrong, but he has enough time,” he concluded.

In the meantime, Mick Schumacher has swapped his Ferrari overalls for an Alfa Romeo suit as he prepares to test that car.

It is no secret that Schumacher Jr. will end up in Formula One and most probably, Ferrari. But the question on everyone’s lips is, when will Mick Schumacher graduate to the big leagues?
