Son Heung Min Signs Four Year Contract With Spurs as Harry Kane Moves Closer to Exit

Son Heung Min signed a new contract with club Tottenham Hotspur. He put pen to paper on a four-year contract that runs through 2025. The 29-year-old South Korean forward was one of the best players in the Spurs squad as he helped his way towards 17 goals and 10 assists.
He formed a formidable strike partnership with Harry Kane as their 14th combined goal effort, whereby one assisted another set a record for the most goal combinations in a single Premier League season. However, Kane is reportedly looking for a move out of the club.

Heung Min was ecstatic about his pay rise as the former Bayer Leverkusen forward completed six years at the club. “It was already a big honor to play here for six years, the club have showed me massive, massive respect, and obviously, I’m very happy to be here,” Son said in a statement.
“It’s like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff. There was no decision. It was easy. I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon,” he added.
He is at one of the highest points of his career, as he showed his class last year. However, his best match came in the second match of the Premier League season as he scored four goals, all assisted by Harry Kane, in a 5–2 win against Southampton and the first League win of the season. This was the first time in Premier League history in which a single player scored four goals in a match while being assisted by the same teammate.

This might be the last season where Spurs fans can see Kane and Son pair up together as Premier League champions Manchester City are rumored to be circling around the England captain. They did submit a bid of 100 million pounds to Tottenham, but the club chairman Daniel Levy rejected it.

It’ll be interesting to see how this transfer saga works out, as it is hard to imagine Spurs being competitive without Harry Kane. Interestingly, not many forwards are available in the transfer market in case he leaves. Forwards like Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski would prefer to move to clubs that play in the UCL, and hence, it won’t be good for Spurs.
