Former British No.1 Details Why Novak Djokovic Could End Up Ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

The longest-running question in tennis remains unchanged, as in all sports. Is there a surefire way to decide who is the GOAT? When talking about the greatest of all time among the Big Three in tennis, there is no way to be certain. With more time and data, the answer changes regularly. Compounding this fact, former British No. 1 Tim Henman suggested that Novak Djokovic may move ahead of the legacies set by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Despite being the youngest and the fittest of the Big Three, the Serbian is only three Grand Slams behind the two. As for the other two leading men, they have repeatedly been plagued by injuries. Though Federer called off the entire 2020 season after Australia, Nadal had a great season with French Open triumph. However, Tim highlights the Spaniard’s problems with the knee.

The 33-year-old World No. 1 is undoubtedly the most suitable player to challenge the greatness of Federer and Nadal. With record-breaking titles in Australia, Djokovic will aim to win another Grand Slam early in the year itself. He has been successfully doing it since the last two years, notching his total to eight.
“If I had to choose a player who will win the most Majors, it would still be Novak Djokovic. I look at his game, his physiognomy, he seems to be in good shape. He could overtake Federer and Nadal. I think Rafa’s body has suffered a bit with these knee problems,” said Tim Henman.

Even though the Serbian is the prime contender in this situation, Roger and Rafael can never be underestimated. Before being legendary tennis players, they are excellent competitors, and undoubtedly the face of the sport.

Although Djokovic and Nadal are World No. 1 and 2 respectively, the next-generation players are becoming a real threat. Without the Big Three in the 2020 US Open finals, the world witnessed the moment as time after they are gone.
It is, however, too soon to predict anything. The Big Three are still equally passionate to win on the court, and there is still a lot of tennis to come from them. All the fans can do is wait awhile.

At the 2021 Australian Open, we might find might more concrete answers to the prevailing question. But, as of now, tennis is brimming with talent and it is always great for the success of the sport.
