Former NBA Player Jim Farmer Arrested on Charges of Human Trafficking

Former NBA player Jim Farmer has been arrested on charges of human trafficking in Tennessee.
According to USA Today, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that Farmer, a resident of Franklin, Tennessee, was among 16 men arrested on charges of seeking sex from minors. A statement from the agency said that the men were arrested during a two-day sting operation.

The arrest affidavit, as reported, said that Farmer responded to an adult escort advertisement on Oct. 25 in regards to meeting a juvenile for sex. During the communication, a female undercover officer identified herself as a 16-year old girl. Farmer, the affidavit continues, agreed to pay $170 to have sex with the girl.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail that same day and released Tuesday on $75,000 bond. A Rutherford County court clerk said Farmer is due in court for a hearing on the charge on November 13.

6 feet and 4 inches high, Farmer was a useful point guard or shooting guard. Farmer, 55, has played in NBA for five seasons from 1987. He came out from the Houston Academy and played college basketball for Alabama before being picked as the 20th overall pick of the 1987 NBA Draft by Dallas Mavericks. He stayed in the NBA for the next five seasons, representing four other teams. He played for Utah Jazz, Seattle SuperSonics, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets during that time. Later, he continued to play in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He also played a season in Italian Basketball League.
