Former Tennis Wheelchair Champion Esther Vergeer Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Former wheelchair tennis star Esther Vergeer is suffering from breast cancer.
The 38-year old took to Twitter to reveal that she is diagnosed with the unfortunate condition and is hoping to get over it with support from friends and family.
“I have some bad news: I am diagnosed with breast cancer. The full focus will be on the treatment and healing of the cancer. Full of positive energy and with the support of my family, friends and colleagues, I will go for it. I am sure I will get through this!” a Tweet from the official twitter handle of Esther Vergeer read.

Esther Vergeer: One of the best in the world
Turning pro in 1995, she has accumulated an incredible 148 career singles titles in her career. She has lost just 25 matches overall and emerged victorious in 695 matches.
Her doubles record has equally impressive numbers. She has 136 career doubles titles, where she won 441 matches and lost just 35.

She took the World No. 1 spot in 1999 and remained there till her retirement in 2013. She did not lose a match in her career since 2003, winning 470 in a row. In that period, she won 25 Grand Slam titles, four Paralympic singles gold medals and three doubles golds.
At 38, Vergeer got support and wishes from the tennis community for a speedy recovery.
