Emma Raducanu has been the name on everyone’s lips since September. The manner in which she won the US Open was simply incredible. However, all has not gone well for the teenager since then. She lost in the opening round of the Indian Wells 2021 and even fired her coach, Andrew Richardson, after her astonishing victory in New York.

Recently, former World No. 1 Tracy Austin said that stability needs to be restored in Emma Raducanu’s camp. After the historic run at the US Open, Emma fired her coach Andrew Richardson, which did raise a few eyebrows. It’s natural to wonder why anyone would change a successful partnership?

The former World No. 1 player linked Emma’s situation to that of Maria Sharapova. When the Russian star was going through a similar phase in her career, it was her agent Max Eisenbud back then who helped her shape things out for the better. At the moment, Emma is in a situation which Sharapova faced before, additionally, they also have the same agent.

Austin expressed that Raducanu should consider bringing Richardson back and drew parallels to Sharapova. “Max Eisenbud is her agent, he’s been through it with Maria Sharapova who won at 17 so I think that should be helpful. I’d say go back to Andrew Richardson, I saw them at the US Open before each match, they seemed to have a nice camaraderie,” said the two-time US Open champ
