In a series of unprecedented and rather bizarre events, Gambhir was involved in an ugly brawl with his counterpart Manoj Tiwary, and was also accused of pushing the umpire. This event has shocked everyone especially because misconduct with an umpire is widely condemned in any sport let alone cricket.

The event took place in a Ranji match between Delhi and West Bengal on Saturday. Bengal was batting and as Manoj Tiwary walked in, he came out wearing a cap and took his guard. As soon as he realized that the next over was to be bowled by a fast bowler, he immediately called for a helmet.

This annoyed the opposition and they started mocking the batsman. Manoj Tiwary retaliated and he asked the close in fielders to mind their own business. After this the skipper also got into the act and started abusing the batsman.

Gambhir said :”Shaam ko mil tujhe Maarunga(meet me in the evening I will hit you)” to which Tiwary replied:”Shaam kya abhi bahar chal(Why wait till evening, let’s settle it now)”.

This was the tipping point. Gambhir charged towards Tiwary with his fists raised gesturing to hit him and seeing this the umpire immediately sprinted towards the players to stop him, however, in the process Gambhir bumped him.

This is supposed to have serious repercussions on Gambhir, for a start he is said to have been fined a hefty- fifty percent of his match fee and many more consequences are yet to come.
