It was heartbreak for Uruguay as they were knocked out of the Copa America quarterfinals. The match ended in a stalemate, namely a 0-0 draw and even extra time yielded no results. Then, it was time for penalties and Fernando Muslera and Pedro Gallese had to bring their A game. Sadly for Muslera’s team, not everyone brought their A game, and the one who let them down was FC Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.

Every player netted their goals, except for Suarez, breaking Uruguayan hearts in the process. Now, the winning team, Peru, will square off against Chile in the semifinals. In the other semifinal, Argentina will face Brazil for a chance in the final. Following Uruguay’s loss, Luis Suarez was understandably devastated and was in tears.

However, while some sympathised with Uruguay and the distraught Suarez, others, were delighted. A number of Ghanian fans were jubilant and viewed it as karma for their 2010 World Cup loss. On that day, Luis Suarez blocked a surefire goal with his hands and was immediately red carded.
