With the toss between Montreal Tigers and Toronto Nationals in the Global T20 League Canada delayed without any particular reason being mentioned anywhere, it is intriguing when some thought is given to it. Weather seems perfectly fine, but players didn’t seem to come out.

Strong sources from social media say Montreal Tigers & Toronto Nationals are refusing to board the team bus to the CAA Center for today’s Global T20 match over outstanding player payments. “Buses were supposed to leave an hour ago. Match due to start in 75 minutes but players not at field,” the sources said a few minutes back.

With many stars players involved, the Global T20 was known to be running well with decent sponsorship deals. But it will be interesting to see why the players weren’t paid, and even more interesting to see which players.

Today’s match is supposed to involve Yuvraj Singh, who is the captain of Toronto Nationals which boast the likes of Brendon McCullum, Moises Henriques and Henrich Klaasen in their lineup.

With the match delayed, the broadcasters are showing either the highlights of previous matches or a completely different sport altogether, without mentioning any particular reason.
TV coverage on Hotstar in the USA of the Global T20 Canada  is currently showing a replay of a previous match between Brampton and Vancouver with a scroll along the bottom that reads “Global T20 2019 match between Montreal Tigers and Toronto Nationals will begin shortly. Stay tuned!”
Meanwhile, UK broadcaster FreeSport which has the rights to the T20 league  is currently showing a replay of a NASCAR race instead of GT20 pre-match coverage for today.
So today’s match definitely won’t be starting on time, if it happens at all.

Even online cricket scores and news updating website ESPNCricinfo are currently showing “The toss has been delayed”, without mentioning any reason or any other update.
According to the latest update from the twitter handle of the Global T20 Canada, “technical reasons” is the word used to euphemize the delay due to fault in payments. The game would begin at 2.30 pm local time according to the tweet.
