David Goffin labels beating Rafel Nadal ‘almost impossible’

Rafael Nadal is having the time of his life right now. After winning Monte Carlo Masters, he took the Barcelona Open as well. He won both the tournaments dominating his opponents, not dropping a single set. He lost more than 4 games in a set, just once.

He faced David Goffin in the Barcelona Open semifinal, where he was seeded 4. Nadal won the match 6-4,6-0. Commenting on this, Goffin said that it seems almost impossible to beat the Spaniard on clay.

‘If you play at the same level as Rafa, he is the best, you have to do something different to be able to win,‘ Goffin said.

‘It almost seems impossible, he is very strong in all the ways. I have to fight him with my best weapons, my best tennis. I have to be faster, but it’s very difficult to beat him. On clay he feels very well, he returns back all the shots even if you have a good serve.

Rafa doesn’t give you any point.’

Victory over David Goffin in the Barcelona Open was Nadal’s 400th win over the clay court. He now has 46 sets undefeated in clay, a record which might never get broken by anyone but Nadal himself.

Rafael Nadal is himself in awe of his record over the clay court. Speaking on the same, he said, “Not in my best dreams I would have imagined such a record.”

He will next be seen defending his title at the Madrid Masters, a tournament he’s won 5 times. He would need to be at the top of his game again since defending the title is critical for his claim to the world number 1 ranking. Post this, he will be seen trying to claim the the Italian Open, a tournament he lost last year at the quarterfinals.
