Warriors News: Steve Kerr Provides Injury Updates on Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr believed that Stephen Curry could hit the courts late in the season, but not Klay Thompson.

Curry and Thompson are currently two of the strongest players in the Warriors line-up, but two with probably the longest injury lay-off period. Thompson suffered a knee injury during the pre-season. He underwent a successful surgery in July and is since then working on his rehabilitation.

Curry had started the season for the Warriors, but suffered a hand injury very early into the season. Only last month, Curry had a second surgery on his hand. On Tuesday, he was reported to have been shooting with his left hand for the first time since his injury.

The Warriors coach has now said that, while he expects Curry to play again this season, the same cannot be said of Thompson.

“Steph for sure. His injury is not as serious as Klay’s because we are dealing with a hand and not a knee. We’ll reevaluate Steph sometime in February. I think there is an excellent chance he comes back in March late in the season which we will all welcome,” Kerr told Yahoo Sports.

“Our fans deserve to see him play. He is dying to play. Our young players want to play with him So, if we could get him back before the end of the season, it would be great,” he said.

“Klay, I doubt coming out of an ACL (injury).”

With their star men leaving in the preseason, the Dubs were already weakened. Adding to it was the injury to Thompson well before the start of the NBA season and Curry’s injury very early into the season. The Warriors’ struggles seemed evident almost from game one of the season as they struggled to pile up wins. With a few other injuries during the course of the season along with a few close losses, the Warriors lost a majority of their games this season. Their nine wins in the season is the second least in the league after Atlanta Hawks, and they sit at the bottom of the Western Conference with four wins less than the team above them.
