Golf legend Tiger Woods has always admired Michael Jordan and his game. Jordan is a NBA champion who plays golf too. And Woods follows him as a great athlete and friend. Jordan was there when Woods was going through a rough phase.

But according to Woods, it’s not just Jordan who is a good friend to him, but he is someone who inspires others too. In an interview with ROLEX, Woods spilled the beans and made a big claim about Jordan.

Tiger Woods talked about Michael Jordan

During an interview with ROLEX in 2012, former No.1 talked about his friend, Michael Jordan. The interviewer asked him about feeling the pressure of inspiring the youth to play golf. Woods replied he does not feel pressure. Instead, he felt excited. The game of golf has changed a lot. As per him, people did not respect the sport when he played high school golf.

Thankfully, things changed. Woods said that his contribution could be one reason for the respect the sport receives. However, it is also because of other athletes like Michael Jordan playing golf and inspiring people. People believed that if Jordan was doing it, it was excellent, and they should also do it.

Hence, more children were choosing golf. Woods said, “hey you know if he’s doing that, you know maybe I should give it a try.” 

Legend inspiring other legends

Woods and Jordan have known each other for years. The golf legend did not say those positive words for Jordan, just like that. He knows his friend well, and the fact that Jordan has inspired many. In fact, Jordan has inspired Woods since he was 14 years old, and he compared himself with Jordan.

During an interview in 1990 with ‘TransWorld Sport’, he said he was kind of Michael Jordan himself. Woods was just a kid, and Jordan wasn’t quite Michael Jordan then. But these words coming out of a kid were a surprise.

Therefore, it is proved that Jordan inspires kids to become better athletes. And since he is interested in golf, the duo of Jordan and Woods inspire young minds too.
