The PGA Tour recently wrapped up the Sentry Tournament of Champions with Jon Rahm’s rather dramatic triumph. However, it is a new week and the tour is hosting its second event on this year’s calendar. The 2023 Sony Open has built new excitement among fans ever since it kicked off yesterday. And fans are excited to watch their favorite players compete for the spectacular title along with the prize money. But how much is the total purse for this year’s Sony Open?

Which top players are on the field at the 2023 Sony Open?

Last year, Japanese professional Hideki Matsuyama claimed the title after winning an unforgettable playoff against Russell Henley, who won the tournament in 2013. However, this year might be a little tougher for the golfer since he will have to compete against World No.14 Tom Kim and World No.15 Jordan Spieth. Kim recently tied for fifth at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, making himself the highlight of this tournament as well.

Although former world no. 1 Spieth might not have been in the headlines recently, his memorable win at last year’s RBC Heritage was proof to show that he has still got what it takes to win tournaments. Spieth finished third in Sony Open 2017 and is back to show better form. Other than these top players, golfers including Matt Kuchar, Jimmy Walker, Patton Kizzire, Ryan Palmer, and many more are also on the field.

Total purse, winner’s share, and prize money for the tournament

The golf world is thrilled to find out which gifted golfer will lift the trophy in the final round along with the huge prize money. The total purse for the tournament is set to be $7.9 million, while the winner will receive $1.422 million as his share. The tournament is being held at the Waialae Country Club, Hawaii. The club was established back in 1927 and has served as host to numerous Hawaiian Opens ever since.
