“Always for a Cut”: Xander Schauffele Comes Clean off His LIV Golf Joining Rumors With an Emotional Answer

LIV Golf has been able to capture some of the most talented players from the PGA Tour. But Xander Schauffele is not one of them. The golf star was rumored to join the Saudi-backed league several times. And his recent comments about the PGA Tour’s future have brought him into the headlines once again.

Schauffele has been a supporter of the tour ever since he joined as a professional golfer. The American player has an amazing fan following among golf enthusiasts and has also played events on the European tour. Moreover, his PGA Tour career has been far more successful than numerous other players.

When LIV Golf was offering millions of dollars to players for leaving the PGA Tour and joining the breakaway league instead, the golfer stood strong by the American tour. However, he was in countless rumors of joining the new league several times. Currently readying himself for the Arnold Palmer Invitational starting tomorrow, the golfer ranks 6th according to the OWGR.

But before stepping on the field, Schauffele spoke up about the PGA Tour’s upcoming elevated events. The golfer was linked to LIV Golf, which is famous for its no-cut events. And when asked about his views on the PGA Tour’s powerplay against the rival league, here’s what he said:

“To answer the cut question, I am always for a cut. Emotionally I’m for a cut. There is an aspect of it, I would say, that’s really entertaining for some…But at the end of the day, a lot of people like and a lot of kids like to come see the top players play in the world.”

Well, that certainly means that if LIV Golf manages to gather all the top players in the league, fans might not be interested in the PGA Tour anymore! But that is not the only point he raised. According to the player, such events make it easier for sponsors to invest. “I think it’s also an easier package to sell to the sponsors when you tell ’em that 20 of the top 20 players in the world are going to be there Thursday through Sunday,” he added.

Schauffele’s statements made it clear that the golfer still prefers playing in events that actually have a cut. But being a PGA Tour supporter, he still stands tall with Jay Monahan, Tiger Woods, and all his fellow players.
