‘I S**k When I Practice’: John Daly Reveals Why He Never Took His Game Seriously

John Daly is one of the most prominent names in the golfing world. However throughout his career, he has been famous for his unorthodox lifestyle.

We seldom heard about Daly grinding on the practice range like other golfers. Hence, many fans believe if he had taken his game seriously, Daly would have been an even more successful golfer.

John was once present on the Howard Stern Show where the hosts asked him the same question. “Yeah, I mean, harder I work, worse I get,” revealed Daly. “I figured out that practicing causes imperfection when I do it. And I s*ck when I practice. I don’t know what it is,” concluded John.

John Daly started playing golf at the age of 4. Understandably, it is crucial to start playing this sport early to be a professional golfer. Furthermore, the 56-year-old golfer revealed about how he picked those skills. “Well, I was pretty much self-taught,” said Daly.

It was crucial for him to know what he was doing was the right thing to do. “Jack Nicklaus golf lessons cartoons and I looked at the pictures and saw how you gripped it in an interlocking grip, and it’s all in cartoons,” revealed the two-time major championship winner.

Moreover, the famous golfer is at the fag end of his career, and he mostly competes on the senior tour. And one of the main reasons behind it is his battle with cancer. Daly was diagnosed with bladder cancer in September 2020, and he has been receiving treatment for the same.

Additionally, he recently won the 2021 PNC Championship, a father-son event with his son John Daly II. The Daly’s dominated the event and eventually remained at the top even after the Team Woods was chasing them from behind. Tiger Woods and his son Charlie finished runner-up for the event, while Team Daly took the top spot.

Furthermore, the last event that John Daly competed in was the Insperity Invitational on April 29th. He finished T65 for the event with a score of +6.
