Usually, when the ball ends on a drain or the stance or the swing is impacted by the drain, the professionals are entitled to free relief. Unfortunately, Justin Thomas’ stance was not affected by the ball’s condition, and he called the rules official to discuss the situation. But that backfired, and the two-time major championship winner did not get the relief in the end. His ball was on a severe down slope, and Thomas had to hit a 156-yards approach shot. However, the PGA Tour professional chunked his approach shot and traveled only 110 yards.
After hitting his shot he was fuming, the 29-year-old spoke about how he felt about the ruling. He said, “That’s what pisses me off, because so many other people would lie about being able to hit that, but it’s just like, I’m not going to hit it. That’s bull****, man.” Moreover, Thomas’ words prove how sometimes certain golf rules can really infuriate a player. At the same time, it shows Thomas is always true to his game. It’s truly incredible to see the honesty.
