Arnold Palmer remembers his wife Winifred Walzer after her demise
Arnold Palmer is known to be a veteran golfer and an acclaimed entrepreneur. But the least known fact about him is that he was a die-hard romantic. She was so strong. She had so much faith. We set up a hospital room for her in our home in Latrobe. One of the last things she told me was, “Get on with your life.”
She had everything prepared for him, even her own funeral. Speaking about it further, Palmer added, “I couldn’t talk at her funeral. Winnie had written out her own funeral service, what music she wanted played, what prayers read. Turns out, she had done all that planning a year before she died.” What a great team they made! As he spoke about her, there was a void in Arnold’s voice, as if something was missing, something was empty, or something was simply incomplete.
