The LIV Golf Series has been accused of destroying the existing ecosystem of the golf world. But it has brought in a few positive shifts worth speaking about. The massive upsurge in tournament prize money and the inflated interest because of the daily happenings in the sport are a few reasons golf still intrigues its loyal fan base.

But the most immediate and impactful change has been the behavior toward caddies and crew members accompanying golfers. Multiple caddies have spoken about the change in attitude, but the most recent revelation comes from an anonymous caddie who gave an insight into a previously unknown lawsuit filed by the caddies against none other than the PGA Tour itself.

Anonymous Caddie has harsh things to say about the PGA Tour

The unnamed caddie disclosed the adverse attitude of officials, even after the lawsuit was dropped. “Tour officials looked at us as disposable,” the anonymous caddie wrote. “LIV Golf clearly understands that plight and history because everyone I’ve met since we’ve joined has gone out of the way to do the opposite.”

This has been a template followed since the inaugural LIV event at Centurion Club in London. LIV caddies are reserved for their accommodation and hospitality remains top-notch. LIV Golf even pays for flight tickets for non-golf events, like promotional events and sponsorship shoots.

While the caddies don’t receive a part of their payer’s mega contract, they are still minting money far better than they used to. “I’m still taking home life-changing money and will get a cut of all the team and season-ending bonuses,” our undercover source revealed, before adding, “If things continue to go the way they’ve been going, I’m going to make more in this shortened LIV season than I have in the past three years combined on the PGA Tour.”

What did the lawsuit say regarding Caddies’ treatment by the PGA Tour?

As per reports, the anonymous caddie spoke about a united stand between all caddies against wearing bibs embellished with sponsorship logos without being compensated. These logos would often keep changing while heading into new tournaments, which bore a heavy load for the caddies. Furthermore, they were threatened to be expelled if they failed to comply with the sponsored bibs.

According to the report, caddies filed a $50 million lawsuit against the PGA tour. The suit was filed in 2015, but they provided no remuneration. The case was ultimately dropped in 2018 after the PGA Tour agreed to increase the caddies’ yearly medical stipend.
