The LIV Golf Invitational Series will begin on June 9 at Centurion Club in London. Although it faced a lot of controversies, the officials of the Saudi-backed league had faith in it. They believed that prominent players like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson would bring viewers to the event.

Their plan worked with Mickelson signing the contract with the LIV Golf for playing its upcoming league. However, it was not the case with the 15-time major winning champion.

According to Greg Norman, Woods rejected a huge offer from the LIV Golf to play in its Invitational Series. Although he didn’t mention the exact amount, the LIV Golf CEO stressed the fact that it was a “mind-blowingly enormous” offer

Since he mentioned it was a “high nine-digit,” it is likely more than $500 million, closer to $1 billion. However, despite receiving such an offer, unlike his fellow Tour veteran Mickelson, Woods didn’t accept but rejected it outrightly.

Mickelson had been playing on the PGA tour since 1992. His friendly nature and talent in golf have made quite a name for the golfer. Hence, according to reports, the golfer received a $200 million offer from LIV Golf. With the 2021 PGA Championship on board, many of his fans would tune in to watch the league.

On the other hand, Woods is widely considered the greatest golfer of all time. His presence would have made a drastic change in the popularity of the league since he is known to attract people to the sport. Hence, the LIV Golf offered him a lot more than any other golfer. Notably, the former world No. 1, Dustin Johnson, reportedly received an offer of $125 million to get on board with LIV Golf.

Notably, he has won 82 titles from the Tour, including 15 majors and several World Golf Championships.
