Lydia Ko has won the BMW Ladies Championship and the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio this year. Despite that, she is most excited about her big day. Ko is to be married at the end of the year. The world No. 3 had an incredible proposal story for her fans too, and it wasn’t at all like everyone would imagine. Lydia didn’t wait around to be asked to be married.

In a podcast, on the Henni & Hally: Women with Game podcast, earlier this year, Lydia revealed details about her and her fiancé, Chung Jun. She revealed that her relationship had more than one proposal and that she had also proposed to her fiancé. Lydia didn’t believe in the stereotype that the man has to be the one to propose.

She stated, “I was like, ‘Why is it that the guy has got to propose?’” and then went on to ask him the big question. Ko had combined her love for golf with her love for Chung and asked him to marry her. She said, “I did it very golf-like.” I wrote on golf balls, “Will you marry me?”
But the 25-year-old got a stereotypical guy proposal as well from her soon-to-be husband. She said, “He proposed during our engagement shoot. It was really cool. I didn’t expect it.” It isn’t every day that one has more than one proposal in a relationship, so it goes to show how special the occasion is for both Lydia and Chung.

Ko met her “lucky charm” through mutual friends, and they have been dating for over 2 years. Through the three-time major winner’s proposal story, we can tell that she’s very excited about her wedding. The couple is to be married at the Myeongdong Cathedral in central Seoul on December 30.
The Korean-born Kiwi golfer is glad that her fiancé is so understanding of her and her career. She knows it’s not easy, and she said, “He’s been understanding because I don’t know if I could be with a professional golfer who is in Arkansas one week and then Dallas the week after.”
