‘Mentally So Exhausting’: Paige Spiranac Details Her Struggles With PTSD

Golf beauty Paige Spiranac recently revealed that she suffered from PTSD merely by keeping scores after her retirement. The former golfer retired in 2016 and took up the role of a social media influencer, which has resulted in her increased popularity. She made the confession while chatting with Shot Scope’s CCO, Gavin Dear, on her own podcast.

In the latest episode of her podcast ‘Playing A Round with Paige Renee’, Spiranac shared her struggles after leaving a promising golf career behind. She expressed how tuning into the golf course for fun rounds with friends was unpleasant, stating she had “no desire to play”.

“Do you still enjoy playing because that was the hardest thing for me,” she told her guest for the evening, Gavin Dear. “And it’s still something that I’m kind of struggling with.”
“And so once I decided to give up playing professional golf, I had no desire to play, no desire to practice, I didn’t even want to like do fun rounds with my friends. I didn’t want to, I had like PTSD from like keeping score,” she continued.
How Shot Scope helped Spiranac to practice again
The social media star also revealed how Shot Scope, the company in which Deer works, helped her get back on the course. Shot Scope is a golf-related marketplace that offers a wide range of golf GPS devices that brings in technological advancements into the century-old sport.
The company’s products include golf GPS watches, golf rangefinders, GPS handhelds, and other comprehensive shot tracking products. Gavin Deer, a former professional golf player from Scotland, is the company’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“Actually shot scope [has] helped with getting that passion to practice again,” she said. “And that passion to get better because people don’t realize like how much work and effort you have to put into playing and practicing.”
Spiranac further highlighted how people from the outside thought the daily routine of a golfer was effortless. She stated how normal practices started from the light of the day and went on till sunrise, calling it “draining after a while”.

“And most people are like, Oh, but it’s golf. It’s so fun. You gotta stay outside, but it’s mentally so exhausting,” she concluded.
