LIV rebel Patrick Reed finds himself in hot waters after suing a number of leading media houses in a fresh $250 million lawsuit. The re-filed case has been charged against an added list of prominent journalists, who Reed’s attorneys’ claim have vilified their client’s image.

The move comes a month after the initial $750 million defamation suit, which is yet to come to a conclusion.

Patrick Reed files another 9-figure lawsuit

According to Reed’s attorney, Larry Klayman, the new suit includes author Shane Ryan, Hachette, the New York Post and Fox Sports, and Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson. Ryan has made comments on Reed in his books “Slaying the Tiger: A Year Inside the Ropes on the New PGA Tour,” and “The Cup They Couldn’t Lose: America, The Ryder Cup, and The Long Road to Whistling Straits.”

The original suit was filed against Brandel Chamblee and Golf Channel, with the statement mentioning the group had “conspired as joint tortfeasors for and with the PGA Tour.” Klayman, who has faced defeat in numerous high-profile defamation lawsuits, criticized the defendants for their misuse of their platform. He warned the group and the others about their misinterpretation to call out Reed scandalously. He also promised to thwart the journalists and “the rest of the jackals” in vilifying the golfer and his family.

“Let it be known that anyone who emulates Shane Ryan and the other defendants in these two lawsuits, in order to make a cheap profit and harm Mr. Reed, his family, and colleagues, will be held accountable under the letter of the law,” Klayman said in a lengthy release.

Reed’s lawsuit faces backlash

While the 2018 Masters winner hasn’t spoken about the suit, he is facing the scrutiny of golf fans on social media. Fans have demanded a reaction for his second lawsuit in as many months. Some are questioning the integrity of Reed’s actions, all the while accounting for an impractical compensation figure.

However, the majority of golf fans are angry at Reed for indirectly asking for more money. The LIV golfer joined the Saudi-backed series for a contract worth millions, which has left fans loathing his greed.
