It is not a secret that the 2-time major winner John Daly is good friends with the former POTUS and business tycoon Donald Trump. The golfer even supported him during the election and occasionally enjoys playing golf with him. However, did you know what the 1991 PGA Championship winner actually thinks about the 45th American President? 

“I’ve never called him Mr. President,” Daly explained his relationship with the former POTUS. “We’ve been friends since ’92. I always call him Daddy Trump.” The golfer discussed his thoughts on Trump while he appeared, along with singer Aaron Lewis, on ‘Uncut with Jay Cutler.’

“If you don’t know him,” Daly added. “He’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met in my life,” he stated. 

Interestingly, Daly once revealed that Trump said to him during their first meeting in 1992 that he would be the president one day. The golfer explained the former POTUS disclosed it during a PGA Tour event in Massachusetts.

As a friend, the 2-time major winner has been nothing but supportive of the former POTUS. He had even accompanied Trump at the presidential debate in 2020. Furthermore, their friendship is not only limited to supporting each other at an official event but extends to being close with the family members.

“I love that whole family,” Daly stated about Trump’s family in the ‘Uncut with Jay Cutler.’ “They are nothing but great people.” 

According to Daly, Trump had called him after he and his son won the 2021 PNC Championship to congratulate them. He revealed it when he made a guest appearance on the Full Send Podcast.

According to Daly, the business tycoon likes to discuss about their families and personal lives. He doesn’t talk politics during the game as well. “We don’t even talk golf,” Daly said during an event at Maryland Live Casino. “We just go out and have a good time.”
