2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout

After a week south of the border, the PGA Tour returns home with its next event in the Lone Star State. The seventh sanctioned event on the PGA Tour, the Cadence Bank Houston Open, began on the 10th of November and will end tomorrow. Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, hosts the event this year.
Defending champion Jason Kokrak signed with LIV Golf earlier this year. Hence, he won’t be returning to defend his title.

Scottie Scheffler’s chance at redemption
Competing in the Houston Open are three of the world’s top 15 players. Among them is last year’s runner-up, Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 2 will undoubtedly be looking for redemption after losing by just two strokes to Kokrak last year.

A win at the Houston Open will also nudge him back to the top of the rankings ahead of Rory McIlroy. But that won’t be a walk in the park for Scheffler, as he plays alongside the likes of Sam Burns, Tony Finau, and Aaron Wise.

Round one saw Finau in the lead, finishing at 5 under par, while Scottie finished at par. Both will certainly make the cut for the final two rounds, but can Scottie get back in the race and take both the win and the world number one position?
The purse and split of the Houston Open
The purse value for the 2022 Houston Open is set at $8.4 million. According to the PGA Tour pay chart, the winner will receive a standard 18% payout of $1,512,000.

It will be a 132-player field. After the first 36 holes, a cut is made to eliminate the bottom of the leaderboard. Only the top 65 players make it to the final two rounds of the tournament.
Additionally, players who finish the fourth round with also get a percentage from the purse.

There are also other incentives that the winner can look forward to. The winner will get 36 Official World Golf Ranking points. He is also granted 500 FedEx Cup points and a two-plus-year exemption on the PGA Tour. Furthermore, the winner gets spots into the 2023 Masters and 2023 PGA Championship, as well as next year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions.
