The 4-time PGA Championship winner entered the field of the Southern Hills last week, hoping he could win the event. Although he could make it to the final cut of the tournament, he couldn’t finish playing all rounds. The event had ended on Sunday. And the main question that lingers through any golf fan is whether Tiger Woods will get a share from the purse money.

The purse money of the 2022 PGA Championship was $15 million, including the winner’s share of $2.7 million. The rest of the purse money is distributed among the top 70 and the ties that advance to the final two rounds after the cut.

According to the rules set by the PGA of America, the gofers who made the cut are eligible to win their share of prize money. However, there is a catch. Only those who finish all rounds will get the money.

Although Woods made the cut, he withdrew after the first three rounds. Since he failed to finish playing all four rounds, he didn’t receive any money from the tournament. Notably, he has made around $4 million from the four times he won the PGA Championship in the past.

Notably, it was the first time as a professional that he had withdrawn from a major event. The golfer decided to withdraw after a bad third round, in which he scored 79, the highest he ever got in a PGA Championship. 

There was no implication of the actual reason for his withdrawal in the statement released by the PGA of America. However, Woods had said to the reporters that he felt soreness after the third round. 

Significantly, Woods still has unhealed injuries on his leg from the death-defying accident he met with last year. The cold weather in the Southern Hills made his condition worse, as he was limping at one point in the tournament.
