Notably, only the top 50 players on the FedEx Cup standings will be able to play the events. Interestingly, like its rival league, the bonus events will also have no cuts, making everyone in the competition win a part of the purse. The players outside the Top 50 will be playing to keep their Tour cards.
The PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, and the council members decided on the new changes in a 90-minute long meeting. According to sources, the commissioner referred to LIV Golf as a threat to the organization.
How can the new change stop players from leaving the PGA Tour?
The players have been leaving the Tour to LIV events for the money they were offered. However, with the inclusion of the bonus events, the Top 50 on the FedEx Cup standings will have a chance to win a similar prize.
