Looking at Tiger Woods’ career, the living legend has influenced more lives than one can count. He has been playing professionally for over two decades but has been a star since before he went to Standford University. Over time, countless people choose to share a few unique stories about Woods about how he’s impacted their lives in one way or the other.

Maverick McNealy and Woods share the same alma mater, and the former once shared a very interesting story about the 15-time major champion. McNealy has been compared to Woods in the past, especially as both of them went to Stanford University. While they are years apart in age, the connection remains.

In a recent interview, McNealy spoke about his encounter with Woods – which happened when he was five.

“When I was 5, my aunt, who went to Stanford, knew Tiger,” McNealy said. “And he came over to our house. We had a little chipping area in the backyard. And so Tiger came over, and my dad says, ‘I hit golf balls down into that canyon. You can’t reach anything down there.’ And Tiger says, ‘Can I try?’ ‘Sure'”.

He further explained how his father even brought out a new glove to use, setting up the shot for Woods. Furthermore, McNealy’s father hinted to Woods that he might never get distance and was a good 50 yards short to reach one of his houses deep down in the canyon. Woods had taken one shot but failed.

The now-45-year-old was determined, and then struck a sweet shot that hit the roof of the house with precision. As per McNealy, they all ran back inside after Woods’ shot hit the roof, but the PGA Tour icon wanted to go again.

“The roof had to have been 400 yards out there and 50 feet, maybe more, dropped down into a canyon valley. And Tiger says, ‘Oh, I’m going to do that again.’ So he gets out, puts another ball down, rips it. And bam! Rips it off the roof again. We said, ‘OK, we’re done. We’re done'”.

On the other hand, McNealy and Woods both have 11 individual wins at Stanford, the most in university history. This anecdote explains that while they did go to the same college, Woods was influencing lives even before he gained massive fame and glory.
