Despite all the drama and events, the PGA Tour is going on with its extensive schedule. Considering all the moves to LIV Golf, Rory McIlroy was at the center of this PGA weekend. McIlroy is one of the most important players in the world, owing to his many wins over the years.

With LIV Golf creating quite the buzz, McIlroy has chosen to stay with the PGA Tour. Judging by his recent performance, his statement is his recent Canadian Open win. Fans seemed to cheer him on.

Among those fans, however, was PGA Tour legend, Jack Nicklaus.

This week, Nicklaus seemed beyond happy to have McIlroy take home his 21st PGA Tour win. It was McIlroy’s win as a defending champion, that made it special for the 33-year-old. Furthermore, Nicklaus mentioned that he himself never achieved the feat.

Fans seemed to love the small interaction, with a few users mentioning the LIV Golf.

‘My Dad Said It Best’: Justin Thomas Has a Message for Aspiring Golfers Amid LIV Golf Attraction

With players divided between the two, PGA Tour will be missing a few stars for its events. While Tiger Woods and McIlroy are still with the tour, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Bryson DeChambeau are a few names who have opted for the Saudi-backed league.

What did McIlroy say to Greg Norman?

Though there was no direct statement made, McIlroy made himself very clear. “One more than someone else,” he tweeted after the win, referring to Greg Norman. The 67-year-old is working as LIV Golf Series’ Commissioner and has been at the forefront of all promotions. As per McIlroy, the series and Norman were an incentive for him to win.

Additionally, even Justin Thomas made a pass at Norman and his 20 PGA Tour wins. Although Thomas’ comments were subtle, the winky face emoji in brackets could be a dig at Norman.

LIV Golf and PGA Tour both have major events to go, seemingly competing for viewerships and fans. In fact, reports mention Nicklaus himself being offered a good price by the LIV Golf Series.

That being said, only time can tell how well the new series plays out. What one can confirm, however, is McIlroy’s loyalty to the PGA Tour.
