The formation of the LIV Golf Series grabbed every fan’s attention in the golf community last year. With so much drama throughout the year, the discussion veered off from the game’s perspective, which took the limelight away from a fantastic year for Scottie Scheffler. The 26-year-old claimed the top spot in the world golf rankings and secured multiple victories last season. He got his due recognition in the field recently after being named in the exclusive Forbes 30 under 30.

Scottie Scheffler features in Forbes’ annual list

The PGA Tour golfer was the only golf representative on the Forbes 30 under 30 Sports-curated list. 2022 turned out to be a fruitful year for Scheffler, who broke records and crossed several milestones in a controversial season.

To put his season into context, Scheffler won his inaugural event on the PGA Tour at the famous WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale last year. He followed that up with a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, before securing his first World Golf Championship victory at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event.

Brimming with confidence, Scheffler went on to claim his debut major championship at the 2022 Masters Tournament, where he claimed the famous Green Jacket by three strokes. He also finished tied for second at the U.S. Open later that year.

Scheffler’s memorable season came at a time when the PGA Tour was increasing purses to fend off competition from rival leagues. Indeed, his success on the pitch was awarded handsomely, with the New Jersey-born raking in just over $14 million as official on-course earnings. The figure makes him the highest-paid golfer in a single season in the tour’s history.

Apart from Scheffler, some of the world’s most popular sports stars also made the list. Philadelphia 76ers player Joel Embiid was the star name on the list after becoming a household name in the NBA. So did, Sarah Nurse, who won a gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics representing Canada last year.

Can Scheffler repeat his triumph from last year?

Having made his claim as one of the hot prospects last year, can Scheffler rekindle that form this season? The 26-year-old has already started on the right note, defending his WM Phoenix title. He also briefly snatched the World’s No.1 title after his victory at TPC Scottsdale.
