The golf world was in shock when Phil Mickelson started playing the first tournament after the global pandemic lockdown wearing sunglasses. It was the first time the fans had seen a professional golfer playing an official event like that. However, did you know that there was a serious reason behind the sudden change in the golfer’s on-course style?
“There’s actually a story to that,” Mickelson said when he appeared as a guest in the CBS booth. “Back during Covid break,” he added. “I did this Carac cream, which is like a skin cancer chemotherapy treatment on your face for like two weeks.”
According to him, the treatment will help one by destroying the underlying cancer cells. And he needed some kind of protection for his face. “So I wore these glasses,” he said. “To kind of protect the area around my eyes.”

“I liked it,” Left said about the sunglasses. According to him, the shades didn’t move even when he was making powerful swings, and thus he played with them. “My eyes were much more relaxed at the end of the day,” he added. “They weren’t squinting the whole time.”
As always, Mickelson didn’t waste his time making a joke claiming that he could pull off the look even though he knows “not everybody can.”

Phil Mickelson attended the LIV Golf Invitational Series’ inaugural event in London after taking a four months break from professional golf. Yet, the golf was more interested in his facial hair than knowing more about him switching Tours.
The 6-time major champion had grown a beard and a mustache when he made a comeback. And he had a reason for it. According to the golfer, his wife Amy Mickelson liked his facial hair. “As long as she likes it, it’s here,” he said during a press meet.
