However, the lefty and Tiger Woods rivalry stands out the most. Moreover, Bob Harig, who recently wrote a detailed book about the two fellow professionals’ epic rivalry, spoke about Tiger’s reaction to his book.

Tiger and Phil Mickelson enjoy a fierce professional rivalry. The 15-time major championship winner and Phil always try to get the better of each other and enjoy competing in various events. Moreover, a famous American golf writer, Bob Harig, wrote an intriguing book on this epic rivalry. The book’s name is Tiger & Phil: Golf’s Most Fascinating Rivalry.

Furthermore, the writer recently appeared in a bonus episode of the famous podcast Chasing Majors. Evin Priest hosts the hot-running podcast, and usually, he has Woods’ ex-caddie Steve Williams talking about Woods. Bob talks about the 82-time PGA Tour winner’s blunt reaction to his book in this particular episode.

Harig narrated, “And there was no appropriate time for me to actually even approach Tiger and bring this up. And finally, when I was, there came a point where I had to let him know and I had to tell Rob McNamara, his friend, I wanted to tell Tiger myself, and I tried to get Rob to get him to call me. And he was like, well, he’s gonna want to know what it’s about.”

He added. “And finally, you know, I told him, and he ended up telling Tiger, and then Tiger said, ‘Okay, I know, I don’t need to talk to him’. I never got the sense that he was upset about it. But I don’t think I don’t know that he was happy about it.”

Moreover, Tiger’s reaction, in a sense, gave a glimpse of his rivalry with the six-time major championship winner. At the same time, it will be interesting to see the two giants play against each other at the 2022 PGA Championship, as both have registered for the event. Phil will be the defending champion heading into the second major of the 2022 season.

Phil is the oldest major winner

The 45-time PGA Tour winner created history at last year’s PGA Championship at the Ocean Course. He defeated Julius Boros’ record and became the oldest major championship winner. Julius won the 1968 PGA Championship to become the oldest professional to win a major at 48. However, Phil won the 2021 edition of the same event at 50. The lefty won the event with an overall score of six-under-par. As a result, he won with a comfortable two-shot advantage after the final round on Sunday.

He carded a final round of one-over-par, 73 to finish on the top of the leaderboard. His final round included three birdies and three bogeys on the opening nine holes. As a result, Mickelson moved out in level-par, 36. He made two birdies and three bogeys on the back nine to make the turn in one-over-par, 37. Moreover, it was Phil’s sixth major championship triumph.
