USGA Brings Good News to Oakland Hills, But it Has Come Decades in Advance

Last month gave nothing but bad memories for the Oakland Hills Golf Club. After a fire destroyed the multi-storied clubhouse, USGA has brought good news for them. The Club is selected as the host for the U. S. Open not for one but two years!
While the golf fans were happy to hear the news, they were surprised to know how long would they have to wait to watch the U. S. Open at the Oakland Hills Club. After all, the USGA has chosen the Golf Club as the host of the Open for the years 2034 and 2051.
OK this is getting a bit obscene. USGA announces two @usopengolf heading to Oakland Hills: 2034 and 2051.

The former golf writer of Golf Channel Will Gray was quick enough to notice this and posted it on his Twitter. “USGA announces two @usopengolf heading to Oakland Hills: 2034 and 2051,” he tweeted. “Do we really need to be booking these things 30 years in advance?”

2034 would be the 7th time the Oakland Hills would host the event since its inception. Apart from the U. S. Open, the Golf Club has hosted many professional and amateur championships. However, a fire that spread due to an accident burned down the clubhouse into ashes. According to the police officials, the Club lost close to $80 million because of it.
The USGA to make more memories at the Oakland Hills
The fire had burned down a lot of memories at the Golf Club, along with the clubhouse. And the Golf Association wants to create more memories at the Club with the 2034 and 2051 U. S. Open.

Apart from the Men’s Open, the Association has also scheduled Women’s Open for 2031 and 2042. The 2024 US Junior Amateur, 2029 US Women’s Amateur, 2038 US Girls’ Junior Amateur, and 2047 US Amateur are the other competitions that the Club will host in the coming years.

“It’s a really great day to end what has been an emotional month for us,” Rick Palmer said. Palmer is the president of the Oakland Hills.
