WATCH: When Paige Spiranac Attempted to Break a World Record in Golf

After being a social media influencer, the former professional golfer Paige Spiranac has always found new ideas to entertain her audience. But, did you know that she had once tried to break a Guinness World Record with the PGA Tour player, Tony Finau?

The golfers took part in the challenge conducted by the ’18Birdies’ YouTube channel. The golf tracking app ’18Birdies,’ of which Spiranac is a brand ambassador, arranged the event for the golfers to break the Guinness Record in Most Golf Balls Caught in 1 Minute from 100m.

As the video began, the anchor of the program introduced the challenge and its rules for the audience. 11 is the Record that the teams, Team Spiranac and Team Finau, had to break to be a part of the Guinness Book. While Paige had Tour Junkies podcast host David Barnet as her catcher, Finau had former professional baseball player Steve Tinoco; Tinoco was Spiranac’s fiancé at the time.

After winning the toss, Finau and Tinoco took the first turn to attempt to break the Record. However, they couldn’t break it in one try. “You take the first initial catch, you’ll feel it hard,” Tinoco described his experience in catching the balls from 100m.

After Tony’s chance, it was Paige’s turn. Although she was up for a challenge, she didn’t look confident. “I see us, maybe a 5% chance,” she said in between her nervous giggles.

Could Paige Spiranac break the record on her first try?

As she had expected, Spiranac and her teammate Barnet could only catch one ball in the allotted time. Thus, failing the chance to break the record.

Although Finau and Tinoco could catch 12 in the second round, it didn’t count as the last ball was caught right after the time. “We will break this record,” Finau said confidently after the 2nd attempt. “I’d probably get like 15.”

And so he did! Finau and Tinoco broke the Record. However, Tony couldn’t hit 15 balls, but just 12, which was enough to get them in the Guinness Book.

The two teams may have got into the event as competitors. However, the determination to break the Record made them a team, and cheered for each other. By the end of the video, it was Spiranac who seemed happier than the Record-breaking pair.
