The best athlete debate is standard in every sport in the world. Moreover, it holds for golf, and the fans and even golf professionals talk about the issue. A few years back, two-time major championship winner Bubba Watson made some hot picks about the best athletes on the PGA Tour. Shockingly, it does not include Tiger Woods.

Woods is arguably among the best professionals on the PGA Tour. The golf athlete has a whopping 15 major championship wins under his name and is also a World Golf Hall of Fame member. The 46-year-old professional also holds the joint record for most PGA Tour wins, with 82 Tour wins under his cap. However, in 2019, Bubba Watson made a shock pick regarding the former World Number One.

Not to forget, Bubba himself is a known name in golf. He is a two-time Masters champion and is famous for hitting the golf ball miles down the fairway. Furthermore, on the Dan Patrick Show, Watson revealed his top picks for the best athletes on the PGA Tour. His selections included Brooks Kopeka and Dustin Johnson but not Tiger Woods.

The two-time green jacket winner made the shocking pick when the host asked him who is the best athlete on the Tour. Watson said, “Man I’d say that. I mean, Brooks would be up there Dustin Johnson for sure. Those were the two that sticky out for sure. When you add in everything every sport I’d have to say those are the two that I would go for right away.”

Moreover, he even gave top picks for his starting five for Basketball. He added, “Dustin Johnson would be write in there. Gary woodland who played basketball in college. I mean, I think I can, I can shoot.” Then the host said, “Your wife can.” To which Bubba replied, “Yeah, she can definitely play. I can shoot a little bit. I’d have to say Zach Johnson can shoot a little bit and he’d be the point guard.”

However, maybe when it comes to golf or the debate regarding the most outstanding athlete, Woods’ name would probably be right up on the list.

Recent major wins of Bubba Watson?

The 43-year-old professional recorded his second and most recent major win at the 2014 Masters. Bubba won the major championship with an overall score of eight-under-par. As a result, he won the event comfortable three-shot advantage after the final round on Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club. Watson carded a final round of three-under-par, 69 to finish on the top of the leaderboard. Furthermore, his final round featured one bogey and four birdies on the opening nine holes on Sunday. In turn, Bubba moved out in three-under-par, 33. He made one birdie and a single bogey on the back nine to seal his second green jacket.

Jonas Blixt and the young Jordan Spieth finished as the runner-ups to the champion. They both ended the major championship event with an overall score of five-under-par. Both the professionals had to settle for the second position finish after the last round at Augusta.
