Stefan Edberg has had the opportunity to work with Roger Federer very closely. He was his coach from 2013 until they parted ways in 2016. He clearly knows Roger’s game very well and feels that it is one of the most elegant. In a recent appearance on Eurosport with Mats Wilander and Boris Becker, he said,

“Like I said to Roger, he looks so easy when he plays, he floats around the court. He’s got grace, he’s got power,  he’s got touch, he’s got everything you wish for. He’s almost the perfect tennis player as I see it—both on and off-court. So he’s very special like we all know.”

To end up as the GOAT of tennis, the Swiss Maestro has to end up holding one record – the record for the Most Slams. He is currently holding this record with 20 but his rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are getting very close. He is definitely going to want to extend his lead.

Unfortunately, Federer will not be able to do that this year. This is because he ended his 2020 season as he underwent a second knee surgery. He said that he hopes to be at his best when he returns next year.
