“Done the Re-Branding”: Tennis Legend Confident COVID-19 Layoff will Benefit Nick Kyrgios

Australia’s Nick Kyrgios is one of the most talented players on tour. Over the years, he’s developed a love-hate personality. His antics on the court have been bizarre on a number of occasions. Having achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 13, Nick has not lived up to his true potential.
Earlier this year, Kyrgios injured his left wrist and was forced to stay away from the game. Coincidentally, the season came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, Nick has mellowed down as far as his outlook towards the game is concerned.
Speaking on this matter was fellow Australian legend Todd Woodbridge. He said, “He’s done the re-branding and he’s gone on the television show about how he was probably going to walk away from the game sooner rather than later. I think he’s had an absolute change in perspective about what life is actually like and he’s been lecturing the rest of the tour on their behavior.”

Everyone’s aware of the talent Nick has. If he’s physically fit, he surely will knock on the doors of the top players. Highlighting it, Todd further added, “For me, (he’s) one of the most talented players out there, but how much has he been working in terms of the physical aspect, because that’s going to be the key when he comes back.”
Nick Kyrgios has immense potential

A player of Nick’s quality should easily be in the top 10. He had won Wimbledon at the junior level back in 2013. The following year in 2014, Nick grabbed everyone’s attention by beating the then World No. 1 Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon. He went up to the quarter-final that year, which was his first attempt at the championships. He has also managed to beat Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal in the very first encounters.

Nick has been working hard to get back to full fitness. He’s eager and excited to be back on tour and should be back on the courts at the Australian Open later next year.
