“I’m Getting Older”: Juan Martin Del Potro

Former world No.3 Juan Martin Del Potro is on the road to recovery from his fractured right kneecap as he has not competed since the Fever-Tree Championships 2019 at the Queen’s Club in June.

While it is still uncertain when Juan Martin Del Potro will return to the ATP tour but the Argentine is still motivated to make a comeback and make an astonishing return as he did last year, making t to the Top 10 in the ATP rankings.

In an interview with ESPN, Juan Martin Del Potro explained that he never expected to make it to the top 10 in the world rankings after all the injuries he had but he did it, last year. However, the ‘Tower of Tandil’ explicated that it is very difficult to repeat a similar year, yet, he still hopes he can play good tennis and come back to competitive action.

The 31-year-old said: “I never expect to return to the Top 10 after all my problems. It’s not easy to repeat a similar year but you never know if I am still in good shape and I am feeling healthy.”

Del Potro further added: “I have the strength enough to reach how good I can be in the future. I’m getting older but I still feel that I can play good tennis and that’s my motivation.”

Earlier, Juan Martin Del Potro abandoned his plans to return to the tour at the Stockholm Open and Vienna Open as he was recommended by the doctors not to compete in October.

Del Potro is still scheduled to play an exhibition with Roger Federer in Buenos Aires at the end of November, but no update has been released on whether that remains the plan or not.

The Argentine, who reached the final of the 2018 US Open, collapsed 55 spots for not defending his points at the US Open 2019. Del Potro slipped to No. 71 in the ATP rankings.
