Former World No.1 Andy Murray is all set to make a comeback in the ‘Battle of the Brits’ tennis tournament. He has been out since November 2019 due to a hip injury and his return has been highly anticipated by his fans all around the world.

Battle of the Brits is a tournament organized by Andy’s brother Jamie Murray to help raise money for NHS charities. It’s a six-day tournament with singles and doubles fixtures featuring top British players. It will start on the 23rd of June. And the National Tennis Centre in London will be the venue. The tournament will be complying with the government’s rules and so will be held without any fans.

In singles, there are eight players divided into two groups of four each. With the first group called Tim Henman Group featuring James Ward, Liam Broady, Andy Murray, and Kyle Edmund. The second group called-  Greg Rusedski Group containing Jack Draper, Jay Clarke, Cameron Norrie, and Dan Evans.

Dan Evans is the British No.1 right now ranking at number 28. The other two in the top 100 are Kyle Edmund at 44 and Cameron Norrie at 77. Evans and Norrie being in the same group will play each other on the 25th of June.

In a small chat with his brother, Andy gave his opinions on the draw and who might be favorites to win the tournament.

“ I am happy with my draw. I wanted to avoid Cam( Cameron Norrie) and Evans” said the former World No.1.

Andy spoke highly of Cameron Norrie. He said that Norrie has been practicing in New Zealand for 10 weeks and in a practice match with Andy this morning, he took the match 6-1 6-3.

On being asked where he could finish in his group, he said that he is looking to finish third in his group. He starts his campaign against Liam Broady on 23rd in a fairly easy group apart from Kyle Edmund. Both of them are former British No.1s and will be playing each other on the 24th of June.
