“I Cried With Him”- Bianca Andreescu on Alexander Zverev’s Emotional Loss at US Open 2020

Dominic Thiem brought the curtain down on the 2020 US Open by defeating Alexander Zverev in spectacular fashion. It was disappointing for the German seeing as he was up 2-0 sets at one point. A stellar comeback by Thiem saw Sascha lose out on his first Major title.
In the presentation ceremony, Zverev talked about his parents who couldn’t be there with him. He was obviously upset about this, and as he talked about them he broke down in tears. It was a touching moment indeed.
In a Twitter post, Bianca Andreescu revealed that watching the German shed tears had made her cry too.

It was obviously hard for Zverev to lose at the US Open, but that will not be his last opportunity to win a Slam. In another two weeks, the French Open will begin and he could triumph there as he has already been having a great year.
There is, however, one area of concern for the German and that is clay-court practice. The French Open is played on clay, which differs vastly from the US Open’s hard-court. Sadly, he lost the best opportunity to get that practice by missing out on the ongoing Italian Open 2020.

Zverev could not play this event as it began just one day after the US Open final and he is definitely not happy about this. Now, his only chance to get some clay-court tennis is in Hamburg. But it won’t be the same as a lot more top players are playing the Italian Open.

It doesn’t look like the German can do anything regarding his preparation. But, despite this, we can expect him to give his best shot when the event begins on September 27th.
