Nick Kyrgios is a tremendously talented player who is destined for big things. Despite all his attitude problems, everyone knows he can give any tennis player in the world a hard time on his day.

However, apparently the Australian doesn’t want to do great things in tennis himself. A grand slam is considered the pinnacle of success for any tennis player. Needless to say, everyone aims to get to that milestone in their careers.

However, the Australian does not want to win a grand slam. He revealed that his attitude towards his career is very laid back. For now, grand slams don’t figure in Nick‘s plans.

“I don’t believe my body will hold up”- Nick Kyrgios

As per Kyrgios, his body will not allow him to win a grand slam. In addition, grand slams were out of his ambitions. That’s also the reason why he doesn’t want a coach.

“Personally, I think (hiring a coach) is a little bit of a waste of money ’cause I think they get paid way too much,” Kyrgios told his friend Elliot Loney during a candid 45-minute podcast.

“And, for me, I don’t have a goal of winning grand slams. I just want to do it my way, have fun with it and just play.”

“So to get a coach for me is pointless because I don’t want to waste their time almost.”

“I just don’t think a coach is ready – and I’m not going to put them through it too ’cause it would just be a nightmare.”

“Where I’m at my career now, it’s just too far gone, I think for a coach, ’cause I’m too set in my ways and I just don’t like to listen to advice, to be honest.”

Kyrgios further added that he isn’t physically capable.

“I don’t believe my body will hold up for seven matches at a grand slam, potentially playing three to four hours (each match),” he said.

“If I could, I’d just be on the beers every time I play – afterwards. I just want to chill out. I just think the sport’s taken a bit too seriously,” Kyrgios said.

Many of you would not like his approach towards tennis. Everyone wants to see a tennis player be ambitious and aim for more titles. It’s his career at the end of the day and none of us can force him to change.
