ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: David Warner Gifts Signed Jersey to a Net Bowler Whom he Struck

Australian Opener, David Warner once again wins the heart of the fans with his kind gesture at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. David Warner gifted a signed jersey to the Indian origin net bowler Jaykishan Plaha, who was hit by the left-handed batsman during the match practice ahead of their match against India at Oval, last week.

During the first net practice before the clash against India on June 9 at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, David Warner hit a firm drive towards Plaha, who then fell on the ground as he was struck by the ball on his head. Australia’s practice session was stopped immediately following the incident.

Jaykishan Plaha is an Indian-origin local Surrey league cricketer. He was immediately stretched inside for medical assessment. He was then hospitalized in a London hospital for a couple of days where doctors monitored him for any brain damage. A successive CT scan cleared Jaykishan Plaha of any major damage. However, David Warner was pretty much shaken by the incident as described by the Australian captain, Aaron Finch.

One week after the incident, the Australian team was back at the Kennington Oval, London for their fifth match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against Sri Lanka on June 15, Saturday. David Warner stepped down to the ground before their arch when he met Jaykishan Plaha. Warner greeted Plaha with a warm hug before his mother and brother.

The two then shared a few words with each other before David Warner gifted him an autographed jersey of the Australian team in a kind gesture. David Warner also had a chat with Plaha’s family presented there.

Warner scored 56 runs in 84 balls against India before scoring an incredible century against Pakistan. He won the man of the match award for his 107 runs knock in 111 deliveries against Pakistan. He had won the hearts of the fans after presenting his man of the match award to a fan present on the stadium.
