Bianca Andreescu was supposed to be the one that would finally change the game for women’s tennis. She had all the tools required. From having a flawless game to carrying the attitude of a champion, Andreescu ticked all of the boxes.

In fact, her US Open coronation came at the cost of Serena Williams, the legend of the bygone era. It was almost like a metaphorical passing of the baton.

However, things don’t always go according to the perfect script. Andreescu injured her knee in late October during a tournament in China. Since then, she hadn’t played a competitive match.
